Cap Barbell Fitness FID Bench

A Great Workout Bench4

This is a surprisingly sturdy lightweight bench to use for dumbbell exercises. Not only is it affordable but it is easier to put together than the average treadmill. The manual's instructions for putting the bench together are clear and easy to follow and it offers good advice on how to get started coming up with an exercise routine. The bench's backrest is adjustable (a hard-to-find but important feature) so you can do the full range of dumbbell exercises.

Customers should know before buying that the bench is designed to support a maximum user weight of 250 lbs with a combined dumbbell weight of 100 lbs. So although you cannot use this bench for lifting massive weights it is ideal for people who are just starting out or who are focusing on fitness instead of extreme bodybuilding.More detail ...

CAP Barbell Xodus Basic Mid-Width Adjustable Exercise Weight Bench

Great bench5

I got this about a week ago. Assembly was pretty easy took less than an hour. The only problem I had was that one of the pins that hold the uprights in place had some stripped threads. I called the customer service number and they sent me two replacements which I received within a week.

Bench press: The bench has four positions: flat decline and two incline. The uprights are adjustable to four different heights. The bottom part of the seat is also adjustable to flat or two different incline positions. While doing incline bench presses at the higher of the two incline positions it's nice to put the lower part of the seat up at it's highest incline position as it holds you in place so you don't slide downwards while doing your reps. There are also a pair of extra barbell holders located lower down on the uprights; if you can't finish a rep you can dump the bar in there. The bar will come to rest about an inch above your chin so you don't have to lift it very far to get it in there. That's a really nice safety feature. Overall it's very comfortable and works great for any sort of bench press incline decline or flat. There's nothing that gets in the way the uprights are adjustable to get the bar at the right height and the bench has a really solid feel to it. I use a 6' standard bar which works fine. Of course a 7' bar would work as well.

Squat rack: You can use this bench for a squat rack. The lower bar that holds the uprights together is curved so you can stand between them. You just flip the bench forward (It stays in the straight up position). Then you raise the uprights as high as they go and turn them around backwards so they're facing the correct direction. They're tubular so you just take the pins out and turn them around. Ideally the uprights could go up a little higher as you have to squat down somewhat in order to get under the bar. But you're doing squats anyway so what's the point in complaining that you have to do an extra 1/5th of a rep. Besides it's infinitely better than picking the weight up off the floor.

Leg attachment: This is removable which is nice because it's not in the way when you're not using it. It has two different heights I found the lower one best for leg curls and the upper one better for leg extensions. If you try using the leg curl attachment on the upper height the padded bar wants to roll up your legs as you do the exercise. On the lower position there's no problem. The padding on the bars is very thick and comfortable. For leg extensions the bar goes right across the front of your ankles and stays there throughout the exercise. Same with the leg curls - once I got it at the right height it stays in the same place on your legs throughout the exercise with no rolling back and forth. The bar that holds the barbell plates is 1" in diameter and there's an adapter sleeve included for Olympic plates (2" diameter).

Preacher curl bench: This goes in the same place as the leg attachment. I originally thought there was a problem with the barbell holder which sticks out from the front of this as it wouldn't allow me to get a full extension at the bottom of the movement. But I found that if you move forward on the seat so that your legs are under the preacher bench and the middle of your biceps are about even with the top of the bench it works just fine. There's no interference from the barbell holder at all. Even though that barbell holder is only a few inches wide the bar balances just fine on it and it's a handy feature.

Overall I can't find anything to complain about with this bench. After a little experimenting around to find the correct position to be in when using the preacher curl bench and which height the leg attachment needs to be at for the leg curl to work correctly everything works fine. The bench is nice and solid and the padding on the seat is thick and firm. The replacement part I needed was received quickly at no charge and with no questions asked. I'm really happy with this purchase.
